How Often Do You Charge an EV?
There are so many factors that affect how often you charge your EV, just like filling up a traditionally-powered vehicle with gas. How often do you drive? How far do you drive? What are your driving conditions? While it’s difficult to determine how often you’ll need to charge, you can rest easy knowing there are a number of ways (and places) you can do it.
What are My Charging Options?
When it comes to charging options, there are three levels of charging.
- Level 1 charger – is a 120-volt charger that charges up to five miles a range, per hour. It can be plugged into any traditional household outlet.
- Level 2 charger – the 240-volt charger provides approximately 18 to 28 miles of range per hour. They are found at most public charging stations and can also be installed at home.
- Level 3 charger – can provide approximately three to 20 miles of range per minute. These are only found at select public charging stations.
How Do I Find a Public Charging Station?
They are several apps and websites that help you easily locate the nearest public charging stations. Select apps can show you if the station is compatible with your EV and even if all the chargers are occupied or not. You can also utilize your navigation to locate the nearest charging station since it is a point of interest.
