When you’re in the market for a luxurious compact SUV, you’re likely to come across vehicles from German mainstays Mercedes-Benz and BMW. In particular, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is an athletic compact SUV with a refined cabin, energetic performance, and plenty of cutting-edge technology.

This SUV is now available right here at Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, but our dealers understand that prospective buyers will likely want to check out competitors like the 2021 BMW X3.

Performance and Powertrain

Even though the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is classified as a compact SUV, its performance is anything but small. Under the hood, the new Mercedes-Benz SUV features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct injection. It cranks out 255 horsepower, 273 lb-ft of torque, and zooms from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. This engine is matched to an equally smooth 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission and a DYNAMIC SELECT system that lets you configure the driving character, from Sport to ECO.

The 2021 BMW X3 also comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, power outputs fall short at just 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Cabin and Technology

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with an advanced artificial intelligence system that never stops learning. You can use your words to prompt certain actions from the vehicle. For instance, if you say, “Hey, Mercedes, I’m chilly,” the MBUX® system will warm the cabin.

While the 2021 BMW X3 also has an infotainment system, some of the same features that come standard in the Mercedes-Benz SUV are merely add-on options. These include keyless entry, smart device integration, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.
