Earlier this month was Veterans Day, and here at Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, veterans and military families are very close to our hearts. We are forever grateful for the sacrifices that veterans and their families have made to serve their country, which is why our dealership, and Mercedes-Benz as a whole, is partnered with the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund. Though we are a Mercedes-Benz dealership first and foremost, we also love to give back to the community that is welcoming enough to let us set up shop, and the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is one of the ways in which we do that.

For every Mercedes-Benz vehicle sold in the United States this year, the automaker is making a donation to the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, which is an organization that helps provide eligible military children with college scholarships and other college assistance. Johnny Mac, whose given name was John McHugh, was a Colonel in the United States Army for 24 years. He was killed in 2010 in Kabul, Afghanistan, and his fellow West Point classmates bonded together to ensure that his five children would receive a college education. In 2014, that group effort was broadened into the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund.

To date, the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund has funded over 400 scholarships totaling nearly $3.5 million for military children. For every $1 that is raised through the program, 94 cents is designated for the kids. Mercedes-Benz is proud to partner with the noble organization.
